The Brownstone Metro Adventures offer participants ten days of immersion learning, delving into issues of identity and heritage while exploring New York's cultural and historical treasures. To cultivate leadership and foster awareness, the action-packed program includes meetings with high-profile businesspeople, policymakers, and community activists; hands-on communal service, including preparing food parcels for the poor; discussions on ethics, personal growth and relationships. The Brownstone Leadership Weekend Retreats offer participants a concentrated immersion learning experience, modeled on The Brownstone Metro Adventures. Both programs accommodate up to 50 collegiates and young adults, for whom tuition is covered. Participants pay only airfare and entrance fees. The Brownstone Experience continues beyond the initial trip and weekend. Follow-up activities ensure participants stay in touch with each other and with their program leaders. Via Facebook, chat groups and regular phone contact, the program leaders and counselors continue to discuss and explore issues that concern The Brownstone alumni. |
